6 Medical Industry Clients Who Hire Voice Actors

The medical profession relies on clear communication. In the modern world where fast-paced communication is the norm, relying on text-based materials can present a struggle to capture someone’s attention.

And…… if you cannot capture their attention how can you facilitate understanding?

Busy medical professionals are inundated with information overload. Informative audio presentations narrated by professional voice actors allow them to learn and absorb information while on the go, maximizing their time and knowledge retention.  A survey conducted with medical students revealed the impact audio podcasts have on informal medical education and learning styles1.  Students surveyed shared that the very nature of having the audio available allowed them more efficiency in their day which is something very beneficial to a busy medical student or working professional.

I can relate!

I am always walking around the house with my earbuds in listening to an audiobook, online audio news article, podcast, or something while being productive in my home.  The art of listening to content and education material allows us to inject learning and education into our everyday routine….. at MY convenience!

How nice…….

to be able to listen while doing such tasks as driving in the car to an appointment, cooking dinner, cleaning my home office or other “stuff”.

Learning materials packed in an audio format can be used as a way for medical professionals to stay up to date with current medical literature.  This can provide ease of access to newly published studies which aides in and facilitating awareness of scientific literature, including major trials and clinical practice guidelines.  So to help bring these content pieces to life, a voice actor trained in medical narration can help.  Part of my training in medical narration voice over is exercising Medical Terminology Expertise.  It is important to have accurate pronunciation of the often long and technical words used.  I have some tricks for this that will come in a later blog post.

Working in the healthcare field over the past 20 years has given me an advantage to have insight and understanding of medical concepts that allow me to deliver an engaging message with empathy and warmth, which establishes trust and connection with the listener.  But don’t worry, professional voice actors are not a one trick pony behind the mic……. We are versatile and have the ability to adapt our voice to different medical contexts in which we may be hired.  We can voice projects from reading a research presentation to a group of clinicians to an animated patient education video with a character voice.

So who are the people relying on voice to aide in their communication these days?
